On the Consciousness of Cephalopods  
In our imagination the octopus is often depicted as a monster of the deep. They are strangers to us vertebrates. Professor Peter Godfrey-Smith argues that meeting these creatures is "probably the closest we will come to meeting an intelligent alien." How to conceptualise consciousness will be explored by the scuba-diving philosopher.
